Project Overview:
I created a series of conference openers for the Motion Student Conference, designing for a complex multi-screen LED setup that included various formats and shapes across the stage, plus a ribbon LED wrapping the arena perimeter.
The openers reached over 16,000 students across the 3-day event, balancing high-energy moments with emotional storytelling to set the tone for each session.
Design Approach
My goal was to build momentum through visual narrative—compositing footage with custom textures and typography to guide viewers through a cohesive story arc that led into each conference segment.
Creative Challenges
The project presented two key technical and creative challenges:
Working with negative space to create distinct "scenes" within each opener, ensuring visual clarity across multiple screen formats simultaneously.
Building the illusion of three-dimensional space through 2D motion graphics, adding depth and variety to enhance the storytelling without overwhelming the message.
